I have recently installed a number of Dell ESXi 5.0 U1 hosts using the Dell custom ISO and then patched them using VUM. The only patch/update applied was the "native" 5.0U2 bundle which afterwards seems to be fine but I then wondered if the Dell drivers from the original install would be out of date or be problematic. I was informed that updates should be done using the appropriate the Dell customized ISO (in this case the 5.0U2 ISO)
I downloaded and tried to import the Dell 5.0U2 ISO into VUM and it autmatically creates an "Upgrade" type baseline. When this is attached VUM reports that it is incompatible to the host and can only be used to upgrade from 4.x.so I cannot see how to use this type of iomage to patch or do minor release updates. Could someone enlighten me please as the "correct" methodology to be followed in these circumstances.
