iOS vSphere client: Current license or ESXi version prohibits execution of...

Running the free version of ESXi 5.1 on a MacPro4,1.  Installed, configured, able to adminster with vSphere client for Windows no problem.  Have the vCMA appliance installed and configured.  Am able to connect to the ESXI host from iPads using vSphere client for iOS w/o issue.

Problem is that when drilling down to a VM, I'm unable to Start / Stop / Suspend / etc.  The error I see is:

Current license or ESXi version prohibits execution of the requested operation.

I'm guessing the free version may somehow block this ability.  Or possibly the absence of a VMware Center Server in my architecture?  If it's a setting change on the ESXi host, that would be simple & great,

If anyone can help shed some light on why I might be seeing this, I'd be quite grateful.

Thanks.
