I have some experience with VMware but not much on vCloud. I am new to vCloud Director. I would appreciate the help with the following scenario.
We have bunch of apps that typicall use Apache - Tomcat - MySQL (All open source products). We are looking at a way to automate these to make a cloud catalog (vCloud) so we can reproduce as many environments as possible for ongoing projects. Our plan is to create templates with preconfigured software Apache/Tomcat/MySQL and manually configure dependencies once the infrastructure is up. But to get the complete automated environment and self provisioning, are there any products or is there any way to add dependencies using scripts to the environment and the script gets called during infrastructure deployment?. For example, Apache load balancer needs to know the Tomcat host/port to load balance Tomcat servers. Is there a way to tell the Apache VM what its Tomcat VM host/port would be?
