The issue is likely the one covered in https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2079094. If so you may consider to update/patch the host.

The current build number is 7618464 (Jan 22, 2018). Please make sure your host supports this version prior to run the update.

i just want to download latest version of vcenter should i pay any money?

you do not need to pay money for new version of vcenter download . you  have to have  valid permission  to download

also , who is Super User  ?

some one from your organization . A Super User can manage license keys and users on behalf of an account, manage account user permissions, and add or remove users.

how can i connect whit him/her ?

follow below KB  . if the user is no longer with the organization:

how can i become a Super User?

To change a Super User or Procurement Contact if the user is no longer with the organization:

Ensure that the user taking over the role has been notified.

Request an email or other form of supporting documentation from an officer or other person of authority (such as a Director of IT or CIO) at your company authorizing the change.

Submit a Support Request. For more information, see How to file a Support Request in My VMware (2006985). When filing your Support Request, ensure that you:

Choose Modify Users from the Product Licensing or Account dropdown.

Include this information in the Issue description field:

The first and last name of the user you are removing from the role.

The first and last name of the user you want to take over the role.

Attach the supporting documentation you obtained in step 2.

RAID Optimalization for Vsphere 6.5

Hello,

i just tested my lan system storage performance and i have interesting result.

I just wonder, that RAID 10 have very poor performance.

I changed raid 10 to raid 5 and i have 2-3 times better performance.

What is happening?

My server configuration:

4x SSD disk Samsung 850 PRO

UCS C420M3

V Spehere - Vmware-ESXi-6.5.0-5969303-Custom-Cisco-6.5.1.2

I have only one datastore as  NON-SSD. I tryed to change it but no performance and speed test changes.

I want to use it for large database system.

Can you helps we what can be wrong?

What do you think to expand my 4x SSD raid 5 to 8x SSD radi 5 with only 1 datastore?

Thank you

Br

Re: how to convert an .img file to VMWARE Fusion?

Can you access the img-file from Linux ?
Please provide the output of
sgdisk -p img-file
If that displays a valid partitiontable then please also provide the size of the img-file in bytes so that I can create a descriptorfile for it.

Idea / Feature Suggestion: Useful to have vmdk disks, usually SCSI / SATA / IDE, make possible for mounting as USB disk as well

I am a happy user of Workstation for over a decade, since days of I think version 4 workstation.

Recently, began to use Tails Linux https://tails.boum.org/ and of course it works with Workstation 12 pro.

But I had been only booting up Tails using ISO image live CD mode. In this mode it can not create a persistent file to store some info or settings. As result I am using vmware snapshots to store.

Tails only creates persistence file to store info when it boots up using USB thumb drive. Yes, I had been able to use USB thumb drive and booted up in EFI BIOS mode in vmware too. But I have to physically plug in a USB thumb drive too.

It is kind of good if VMware will allow a vmdk file virtual disk - same as those we connected via SATA / SCSI, to be also simulated to be (HOT) plugged into VMs. Then in this case it will become very convenient.

I think for more than just Tails purpose, if VMware could hot-plug VMDK disks as USB device, it serves a whole lot of useful functions for test / development and powerful usages.

There are physical USB HDD SSD and there are physical USB thumb drives. I suppose VMDK files can simulate them, but I can be ignorant or wrong.

My suggestion is to have essentially thumb drives / SDcards / MicroSD cards simulated by VMware using a VMDK like file / files, this will be a new dimension of simulation that is still a lacking now.

Thanks & regards

Yep - I would use vmkfstools -i current.vmdk new.vmdk -d thin.
But svmotion should do the same.

1. you really should not operate a standalone host with just 1 datastore.
If that ever needs maintenance you will be completely out of business.
2. As more than 90% of my recovery customers have had their problems because of raid5 I regard using raid5 on a standalone host as an unacceptable risk.
Just my 2 cents ...

Retrieve ESXi events through Get-View

$

Hello, due to the "Error in deserializing body of reply message for operation 'RetrieveProperties'" error when running Get-VIEvent + export-csv I'm exploring a way to go through Get-View. I'm not able to get there however. I discovered the method getalleventsview but I can't find the way to use it.

$ESXview = get-view –viewtype HostSystem -Filter
foreach($view in $ESXview)      {      $view.getalleventsview | ?{$_.???  -match "has entered"} | select vClusterName,ESXName,CreationTime,FullFormattedMessage      }

this is the script which throws the error and need to convert in a Get-View script

foreach($esx in (Get-Cluster $vClusters | Get-VMHost))    {    Get-VIEvent -Entity $esx -MaxSamples ([int]::MaxValue) -Start (Get-Date).AddMinutes(–15) | ?{$_.FullFormattedMessage -match "has entered"} |        select @{N="ClusterName";E={$esx.Parent}},@{N="ESXname";E={$esx.Name}}, CreatedTime, FullFormattedMessage |        Export-Csv "$path\ESXentries.csv" -NoTypeInformation    }

Mouse Pointer Problems VMWARE Windows 10

$

Really strange issue that I cannot figure out for the life of me.

On my iMac I have Windows 10 installed on VMware fusion (whatever the current version is).  While working on the machine, my mouse pointer has been frequently blinking.  Not a huge deal, but weird nonetheless.  32 gigs of ram (16 allocated to VM).  512GB SSD.  Nicely spec'd iMac.

However, when I remote to my computer from home (iMac is work computer, and I use Splashtop Business to remote in) everything works fine on the remote computer, until I open VMware to run Windows.  Mouse pointer works fine, then as soon as I log in to Windows, mouse pointer disappears and only keyboard works.  I have multiple monitors on the host computer, and when I switch to the other monitor (that does not have Vmware open) the mouse works fine.  Switch back to the monitor with VMWare/Windows and the mouse does not work.  This only occurs when I remote in via Splashtop.

I apologize if this is hard to understand, it is a really strange occurrence.  Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated as I am a CPA coming up on busy season, and work from home often.  Also, I never had this problem before until I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro (via VMware fusion).

Hate to disappoint you, but the API method to get the events throws the same error (it is probably a vCenter issue, and PowerCLI is using the same method under the covers).

My Get-VIEventPlus function (which you can find in Get the vMotion/svMotion history) throws the same error intermittently.

I'm trying to run a stand alone version of vRO.  I was able to get into the control center initially and configure vCenter for authentication but right after connected vCenter vRO control center fails with http - 400

For example:

I try to go to this URL:

https://vRO.domain.com:8283/vco-controlcenter/#/

and get this in return:

https://vcsa01.domain.com/websso/

HTTP Status 400 - Issuer not recognized

type Status report

message Issuer not recognized

description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect.
